  What services are available?

We come to your house and clean up your dog's messes and haul the waste away with us when we leave! We can also clean decks and patios. We offer commercial service for hotels, condos, apartments, business parks, bike paths and playgrounds, and we also clean and maintain pet waste stations such as those made by Dogipot.

Services are available on a one-time basis, once a week, every other week, or twice a week. Please see our Rates page for more details.

Why should I use your service?

Face it, it's not the most pleasant task, and you've got better things to do with your time!

You may want to use our service if you're pregnant, undergoing chemotherapy, have a weakened immune system or have trouble bending or lifting.

Dog feces can carry several parasites that can be transmitted to humans and other animals. Also, it's not fertilizer! It will burn and damage your lawn if not cleaned up on a regular basis.

  What are your rates?

Residential rates are based on how many animals you have and how often we service your yard. Rates start at $39 per month for every-other-week service for one dog. One-time and first-time cleanups start at $25. Commercial jobs (apartments, condos, HOAs, office parks, schools, etc.) require an on-site visit, please call to schedule an estimate. See our Rates page for full info.

Does the first visit cost extra?

It depends on the accumulation of waste. If your yard hasn't been cleaned in quite a while, there may be a one-time first-visit charge.

This will be discussed with you in advance, and we will start work when you are happy with your rates.

How can I start or stop service?

A simple phone call will do it. When you set up service we'll come out and meet with you and your animal(s) and give you an estimate based on your needs. There are no long term contracts to sign, you may stop service at any time.

We can also accommodate vacation stops or those last minute “unexpected lawn party” cleanups!

How am I billed for service?

Payment for first time and one time cleanups is due when service is rendered. Continuing service is billed on a prepaid basis one month in advance. A typical example: invoice is mailed January 1st, due January 31st, for cleaning services scheduled during February. When you start service, the prorated balance for the rest of the current month will be due, and the following month’s service will be invoiced.

We can accept checks, cash, money orders, and accept Visa and Mastercard at our website.

A $10.00 late charge is assessed if payment is not received by the due date. If your account becomes past due your service may be suspended. A $20.00 charge will be assessed for returned checks. If we provide a combination lock for your gate, it remains the property of The Grand Poobah and will incur a $10.00 replacement fee if not returned in working order at termination of service.

If an outstanding balance is taken to court or referred to a collection agency, you agree to be held responsible for all collection and court costs including any interest, fees, charges, attorney costs and/or expenses permitted by law.

  How do you handle holidays?

We take the following holidays off: New Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. If your service date is scheduled on a holiday, we will service your yard on the next scheduled service day. Credits for holidays are not issued because there is typically more waste to clean up when service is resumed.

Do I need to sign a contract?

No long term contract is necessary, although we do ask that you sign a statement that:

1. Gives us permission to come onto your property on service days,
2. Outlines the rate structure and billing terms, and
3. States that service is month to month and may be cancelled anytime by either party.

  Is there one-time-only service?

Absolutely! If you have a party, wedding, or special event, or are buying or selling a home, why not let us make sure your yard is clean and presentable?

Rates for one-time service are based on the time spent cleaning and the amount of waste removed. See our Rates page for details.

How do you dispose of waste?

Waste is disposed of in accordance with city, county and state regulations. We take it with us when we leave! This is included as part of our service. Since dogs are carnivores, their waste is protein based and harmful to lawns. Unlike sheep, cows and chickens, there is no commercial use for it. Yet!

Do you work when it rains?

Yes, in light or periodic rain (or snow!) The only time we can't is if it's so muddy or frozen it would damage your lawn, or if there's too much snow to see any accumulated droppings. We’ll also suspend work during lightning, hail and tornado warnings!

If we miss a day because of weather we will resume service as soon as possible. Credits for bad weather days are not given because there will typically be more accumulation of waste to clean up when service resumes.

Must I be there when you service my yard?

The first time, we'd like to meet you and your animals so we can all get acquainted. After that, we don't require that you be there.

Do I have to leave my gate unlocked?

Since we're not allowed to climb over fences, we can handle this a few ways: You can provide a combination to your own lock, or we'll provide a 4-digit combination lock at no cost to you.

Our locks remain the property of The Grand Poobah and will incur a $10.00 replacement fee if not returned in working order at termination of service. You can also leave your gate unlocked on service days if that's your preference. We prefer not to handle keys.

Can you work with my dog(s) in the yard?

Almost always, yes! We like animals and are comfortable with most dogs. However, if your dog is territorial or aggressive we may ask you to confine the animal on service days.

Can I schedule service for a certain day?

We work Monday through Friday, and schedule our routes bases on location and proximity to minimize drive time and keep our rates low.

What about diseases and health concerns?

Several parasites like to live in animal fecal matter. Some of these can be transmitted to humans or other animals. We disinfect our tools and shoes before servicing every yard to keep you and your children and pets safe. We use Ken-Care, a kennel disinfectant used by vets that kills Parvo, distemper, Pseudorabies, Newcastle and other viruses. We will notify you as soon as possible if we ever see evidence of worms, parasites or eggs in your animal’s droppings.

Can I skip a day? What about vacations?

You can temporarily suspend service by contacting us at least 24 hours in advance of scheduled service. You will not be billed for days you choose to skip unless we are not notified.

How does your "Satisfaction Guarantee" work?

We pride ourselves on our excellent service and want to make sure you're happy with our work! If you are not satisfied with our service for any reason, notify us within 24 hours we will come back and make the job right. We value you as a customer and we're more than willing to work with you to resolve any issues that may arise. (Note: we do our best, but we may not be able to remove all waste due to snow, ice, mud, leaves or other debris.)

How often will you service my yard?

You can set up service on a weekly, every other week or twice a week basis. We do not offer monthly service, as the accumulation of droppings tends to be substantial and will damage your lawn if not addressed more frequently. We also offer one-time cleanups.

Do you work year-round, even in winter?

Yes! On occasion, heavy snow or rain or extreme cold may cause us to skip a service day. We will notify you as soon as possible if this occurs. Credits for bad weather days are not given because there will typically be more accumulation of waste to clean up when service resumes.

Do you have discounts or referrals?

Yes! We will give you a $25.00 discount on your bill when you refer a new customer who signs up for continuing (weekly, every-other-week or twice a week) service. We also offer 10% off services to Senior Citizens and owners of service animals.

How are your service technicians identified?

You'll see us arrive in a van or truck bearing the Grand Poobah company logo and our techs wear uniform shirts with the logo.

How can I be sure you've been to my yard?

First, you'll notice your nice clean yard! Also, we leave dog biscuits and a service notice on your front porch. We may leave a note on the service notice if there is something that needs to be addressed, like a broken gate, aggressive dog, evidence of worms, parasites or eggs in droppings, or a late bill.

What happens if you can't get into my yard?

If this happens, it's usually because your dog is overly "territorial" that day or because a new lock is on the gate. The first time, we'll waive the charges for that day and contact you to resolve the issue. For any subsequent times, we'll have to bill the normal rate for the service call.

  WHY do you DO this?!

Hi! This is the owner, Jeff Morgan. First of all, I like animals and like working outside and meeting new people. In 2003 I read a press release about a poop scooper service, and started doing some research. I was looking for a business that could be run from home without a storefront, one that had low overhead, a flexible schedule and could be started on a part time basis until it grew to the point where it could replace my corporate cubicle job. I found many success stories and talked to several other scoopers and decided to jump in feet first. Someone's got to do it, let it be us instead of you!
